Building and riding an Alaia
First time I rode an alaia was in late 2009, I rented it from wetsand for $5. I couldn't believe how fast you could go without pumping on a wave. You set your line and it takes off. Last year a good friend of mine Matt Wessen, gave me an alaia. Through the winter I was enjoying the board, in April I lost that alaia in Santa Cruz. Some people don't understand them, most people laugh at them, but I enjoy them.
This is a short video of Clay Wagner and myself shaping/riding an alaia.

Timelapses
Something that I love doing since I first started shooting, have been time lapses. My favorite ones to shoot & watch are taken at night. You can't see the stars move by looking in the night sky, but after you shoot for about 20 minutes, look at what you shot. You realize how fast the earth rotates. This is a video of a handful of time lapses I've taken this last year some during the day and some at night. Enjoy.

New music video with the "Barb Wire Dolls"
I've known the Barb Wire Dolls, Isis, Pyn, and Krash, for over a year now. Met them threw a friend of mine Matt Wessen. The friendship with the BWD started after a party at store opening of Lightning Bolt, had a to many drinks and needed some coffee. Went to there place they were staying at in Venice and had coffee. Couple weeks ago I received a phone call from Matt about shooting this music video. I was really into it.
1. i've always wanted to shoot and work on a music video.
2. Nothing better then shooting a video for some good friends.
The night of the shoot we were on our way out Altadena, Matt couldn't stop talking how creepy the place was. It was all shot in a bomb shelter on a ranch in the hills of Altadena. Were finally on the base of the ranch and were on a dirt road that follows a creek, surrounded by trees no lights. I felt as if they were taking me to where they filmed the blair witch project. It takes about 10-20 min to get to the house. Once were there, its very quiet ranch house that looks over all of LA. We walk down to the bomb shelter, and right when you walk threw the door way there's slaughter hooks on both sides with possibly old blood on the ground below the hooks. Voodoo the bass player said his been cleaning the place out for a couple days after the owner closed it up sometime in the 40's. We walk in they wrote on the walls all of the bands that influenced them threw the years, I couldn't help but smile for the same bands that influenced them threw music influenced me in surfing and film making.
We started to shoot some takes at about 11pm, Matt would ask if I could grab something out of the truck. Every time he did I would scare myself walking out, I felt as if somebody was watching me something was going to happen. Very uncomfortable. After we shot for a good 4-5 hours, the best shots didn't really happen til about 3-4 in the morning. 5am comes around and we wrapped it up we were heading out. Matt, Anna (Matt's Wife), and myself were in the truck backing out and Voodoo dressed in all black hooded sweater on walks by all you can see is his pale face Matt screams as if he saw the devil or something. It ended in laughter, as we drove away Matt says: "We should really make a horror film up there!"
Game on, so this is the music video we shot for my friends from the Barb Wire Dolls of Greece. It was a very fun shoot good company and fun shoot, it was a blast can't wait for the next!
Enjoy
